Maternity photoshoot East London
If the idea of posing in front of a camera makes you cringe a little, you’re not alone. Many of the families I work with worry they’ll feel awkward, stiff, or just not like themselves during a maternity session. And I get it - you want photos that feel real, not rehearsed. The good news? That’s exactly how I work. Here's how I capture those real moments during my pregnancy photoshoots.
Real moments over perfect poses
When you book a session with me, there are no awkward poses, no props, and no cheesy smiles. My style is relaxed and natural, focused on capturing the real connection between you and your growing family.
That might look like you gently resting your hands on your bump. It could be a soft laugh shared with your partner, or your toddler clambering up into your lap mid-session. These aren’t moments you can force or stage they happen naturally, and they’re the ones you’ll want to remember.
I guide, but I don’t pose
Think of me as your calm, reassuring presence behind the camera. I’ll guide you into good light and suggest simple actions - like walking together, sitting in your favourite chair, or standing by a window. From there, I let things unfold.
Sometimes that means you’re just quietly being, sometimes it means giggling about something your partner said, or getting a spontaneous cuddle from your little one. I’m always watching for those tiny gestures that speak volumes.
At home or outdoors, the approach stays the same
Whether we’re shooting in your living room or out in the park, my approach is always about making you feel comfortable and seen. In-home sessions often offer beautiful everyday intimacy: sitting on your bed, curling up on the sofa, or simply being barefoot in your kitchen.
Outdoor sessions bring a sense of space and movement. You might walk hand-in-hand through a field or sit under your favourite tree. I keep direction light and responsive to what feels natural for you.
Why this matters
When you’re not focused on posing, you can relax into the moment. And when you relax, your photos reflect the real you: the excitement, the calm, the love.
These aren’t images of someone trying to look perfect. They’re images of you celebrating this season of life, exactly as you are.
