“My husband is not keen on having his photos taken. He doesn’t know how to pose!”
I have photographed many families and one of the most frequent concern that comes up in a pre-session consultation is that the husbands and partners are not “sold” on a family photo session. Purely because they don’t know how to behave during one and are concerned about looking relaxed and natural in front of the camera.
My response?
It's okay! I don't ever ask the dads to pose for photos (or mums, for that matter). In fact, I will ask them to do anything but pose for photos. But what if this is not enough to persuade them?
I address their concerns and acknowledge them on the day of our session. We laugh about it for a second and then I ask them to focus on the kids. On their partners. On anything but me. I ask them to tickle the kids, cuddle the newborn baby and hug their wives.
And do you know what? They soon forget about me and the camera. They are in the moment. They are enjoying their families, focusing their whole attention on them. They shower their loved ones with affection.
And I’m just there, taking photos, capturing all of this sweet magic.
Review from Laura + Jamie:
Alina captured natural, relaxed photos of us all spending time together, which was great for my husband and he isn't keen on posing for photos. We really enjoyed the session. Alina is very calm and friendly, kept us all at ease and relaxed, which helped create some lovely photos.
Review from Natalia + Tommy:
My husband and I always shy from cameras as not keen on having our photos taken, however Alina made us feel relaxed and she capture such tender moments without us having to pose for hours. This made the experience perfect and we are over the moon with the end results.
