East London baby photography

Let me guess - you’re thinking about booking a newborn photoshoot at home, but a little voice in your head keeps whispering:

“Our flat is tiny.”

“We don’t get much natural light.”

“The place isn’t exactly Instagram-worthy.”

“We’re still living among unpacked boxes and baby gear chaos.”

If this sounds familiar, I want to tell you something very important: none of that matters as much as you think it does. Truly.

As a professional photographer who specialises in in-home newborn sessions, I’ve worked in every kind of space - from big homes with large windows to cosy one-bedroom flats with piles of laundry (because… newborn life). And you know what? Every single session was beautiful.

Here’s why your home is absolutely perfect for your newborn photoshoot - no matter the size, light, or decor.

1. My focus is love and connection, not square footage or designer decor

When I walk into your home, I’m not looking at the wall colour or whether the cushions match the curtains. I’m looking for connection. I’m looking for those quiet moments between feeds, the way you gaze at your baby, the tiny hand wrapped around your finger, the snuggle on the sofa.

Your baby doesn’t care if the living room isn’t Pinterest-perfect. And years from now, neither will you. What you’ll treasure are the photos that show the love and joy of this chapter of life - right where it’s unfolding.

2. Small spaces can actually be an advantage

You’d be amazed at how little space I need to create beautiful photos. A spot by a window, a cosy corner on the bed, or a comfy armchair can become the perfect backdrop. In fact, smaller spaces often feel more intimate in photos. There’s something really special about capturing your family snuggled together in the spaces where you’ll rock your baby to sleep, read bedtime stories, or enjoy those first smiles.

3. I know how to find and use the best light

Worried your home is too dark? That’s such a common concern, and I get it! But as a photographer, I’m trained to work with available light. I’ll seek out those pockets of natural light - whether it’s by a window, the front door, or even a soft glow from a lamp - and use them creatively to create soft, flattering images.

And if the weather’s gloomy (hello, London), I come prepared with tips and tricks to make sure your photos still feel warm and natural.

4. Clutter? Totally normal (and not a problem!)

Let’s be real: if you’ve just had a baby, you’re living in the midst of nappies, bottles, muslins, and spare onesies. That’s life with a newborn! I’m not expecting a show home. During the shoot, I’ll gently guide you on tidying up only the spots we’ll be using - maybe clearing a bedside table or moving a few things off the sofa. Nothing drastic. And I’m a pro at framing photos so that what shows in the background enhances the image, not distracts from it.

5. At the end of the day, it’s YOUR story that matters

Your home is where your family’s story begins. It’s the backdrop to those first yawns, nappy changes, middle-of-the-night cuddles, and sleepy mornings. And that’s why an in-home newborn session is so special - it captures this chapter in your space, with your memories, just as it is.

So please don’t stress about the size, the mess, the decor, or the light. Trust me to see the beauty and capture it for you. All you need to do is show up, cuddle your baby, and let me take care of the rest.

“We had a newborn photo session with Alina at home, in the middle of a major renovation project. We only had one room to work with, but that was no problem at all - Alina was able to use this small space to take a variety of photos, and we were delighted with how they turned out!”
