Summer photoshoot in Wanstead Park

This is a question I hear often from families booking a photoshoot with me“Can we include the grandparents too?”

And every single time, my answer is the same: yes, absolutely. Please do.

There’s something really special about capturing multi-generational moments.

A toddler wrapped in grandpa’s arms.

A quiet cuddle between nan and her new grandbaby.

Your mum’s smile as she watches the chaos of her grandkids running around the room.

These are the kinds of photos that become family treasures.

When we have kids, it’s so easy to focus our camera rolls on them - their milestones, their faces, their everything (and rightly so). But what we often forget is how important it is to also photograph our parents - not just as grandparents, but as part of the evolving story of our family.

Here’s the truth that none of us likes to say out loud: we never really know when a photo might be the last one we have of someone we love. It’s heartbreaking, but also a gentle reminder of why these images matter so much.

Including grandparents in your family or newborn photo session isn’t just a sweet idea - it’s valuable. It’s meaningful. It’s one of the most precious gifts you can give your children - a visual memory of where they came from, and the people who loved them from the very start.

And from a practical perspective, it’s easy to do. Whether it’s a quick portrait in the garden, a snuggly moment on the sofa, or a spontaneous cuddle mid-chaos - I’ll gently guide everyone to feel relaxed and natural, so the photos reflect exactly who you are together.

So yes - if your parents are around and you’d love to include them in your session, just say the word. I’d be honoured to capture those memories for you.

“We had a fabulous photoshoot with Alina (twice now!) and we’re so happy with all the photos she took. She was really friendly, caring towards our young kids and we were super comfortable being around her while trying to get our pictures taken. We thoroughly recommend her to anyone looking to get some lovely photos of their family.”
