Booking a newborn photo session is an interesting concept – we, the parents, ask a photographer to take photos of our newborn baby so we have a keepsake of this special time in our lives. We want to remember what they were like when they were so tiny. The little hands, the wrinkled feet, the head full of hair (or not). We want a photographic evidence of what we all looked like at that point in time, and perhaps, what our homes were like. We will print the photos and whenever we see them, they will instantly take us back to that day when we did a photo session.
But recently it also got me thinking about another reason (apart from the other five reasons I share with you in this post) we should consider when booking a photographer. You see, these photos are not only for us, the parents, the friends and family who will be admiring them. These photos are equally as important for this baby. They mark their very first chapter of their story and serve as a keepsake – they show what the world looked around them when they were born, and what they looked like when they were born. It is like a visual time capsule.
And in years time, when this once-tiny-baby asks you to tell them the story of when they were born, wouldn’t it be wonderful to tell them everything and accompany your story with beautiful, heartfelt and authentic images? Now, THAT’S at least one good reason to have a newborn photo session done at your home.
